Marty's Second Chance
A shut-in hires doubles to take adventures he's not willing to embark on. He makes an unusual discovery that upends his reality.
Marty Epstein offered his guests cool lemonade and iced tea. Living room shades were drawn blocking out summer light. Marty sat down on a musty sofa, its springs worn and creaking. His bushy dark eyebrows arched while he spoke. “Thanks for coming. I assure you it’s not a prank. My offer is serious.” Marty Epstein had placed a personal ad in the local weekly seeking men who resembled him: slender, dark dreamy eyes, thick wavy hair, and bonus points for perplexed expression. He tried to be honest in his brief description. Marty isolated himself from people and the foreboding world beyond his modest house. Lonely and wanting outside contact, he decided to shake things up. The proposal: Earn good money for being his double.
